Overview

A page template defines the common appearance of a number of pages in the application.

A page template is usually responsible for:

  • The general layout of the page in terms of header, body, and footer
  • The color scheme, logo and branding
  • The presence of a sidebar and of the breadcrumbs
  • The inclusion of common JavaScript and CSS resources
  • The definition of the containers (see below)

Portofino has three pre-defined templates (default, site, and site-no-sidebar) but other templates can be added. To choose a template, configure the page and choose a template from the drop-down list.

Below are the descriptions and screenshots of the three standard templates.

Default template

The default template is a fluid layout suitable for intranet application. It provides a sidebar and breadcrumbs for easy navigation even in complex applications with many pages.

The template provides four containers (top, left, right, bottom).

Site template

The site template is a fixed layout (974px) suitable for public websites. It provides a tab bar and a sub-tab bar, as well as a sidebar on the right.

The template provides six containers (top, left, right, bottom, above the sidebar, below the sidebar).

Site-no-sidebar template

Similar to the site template but without the sidebar. It provides four containers (top, left, right, bottom).
